it is good to make places to sit – when you finish, you get to continue enjoying your work in a tactile manner. I got to the beach late after work with the intention of building a bunch of benches, but only managed to finish one. I’ve been considering working more with other materials when stacking, mixing in other textures, forms, and material capabilities, but at the moment I don’t have any good ideas; benches are a pretty safe starting point. one of the little things holding me back from having more ideas of how to use wood is that there’s not much of it available on this part of the beach. what driftwood there is is comprised mainly of twigs or giant tree trunks, the former being (heretofore) useless and the latter being too big to move. I actually just got an idea while writing that…. hmmm. this could take some work.
